If you ride a motorcycle, you have to have insurance, just as if you
were driving a car. In fact, getting good motorcycle coverage is almost
as important as wearing a helmet! For motorcycles, New York’s minimum
requirements are bodily injury limits of $25,000 per person,
$50,000/accident and property damage liability of $10,000 per accident.
You also must carry Basic PIP, just as if you were driving an
automobile. However, other coverages are available. For example, you
can get comprehensive and collision coverage for your motorcycle, and
Medical Payments coverage to cover your medical bills.
